Naturally Dyed Sashiko Threads by Honey Folk

How exciting that we were able to partner with Heidi Iverson of Honey Folk to offer these naturally dyed sashiko embroidery threads! Made by hand in Sonoma County, California, Honey Folk thread is hand-dyed from a combination of ethically sourced and sustainably wild harvested botanical materials such as flowers, herbs, weeds, fallen leaves, pruned branches, berries & such. This thread is a lovely choice for visible mending, boro stitching, sashiko, hand-embroidery, cross stitch, tassels, pom-poms, gift wrapping, & more!

Uneven coloring & gentle fading is just one of the magical characteristics of botanical dyes. Heidi’s 100% cotton, 12 yards/skein embroidery thread’s thickness is equivalent to 3 strands DMC #25.

Care for garments or linens after mending:

When needed hand or machine wash gently in cold water. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight. Use a PH neutral soap. Excess dye residue may occur. It’s best to store naturally dyed thread out of constant direct sunlight as fading may occur.

These products will ship directly from Heidi to you. International orders may be subject to additional shipping charges.

About Heidi Iverson and Honey Folk:

Honey Folk clothing is entirely handcrafted by Heidi Iverson, in her studio surrounded by second-growth Redwoods in Western Sonoma County. She also devotes time to various forms of textile arts, primarily knitting and natural dyeing with plants and flowers she hand gathers or cultivates.

While cutting pieces for the collection, all smaller off-cuts are set aside and re-used in various projects that require small pieces, like quilts & wall hangings. Amy is obsessed with watching her on Instagram live where she does projects in real time and offers a very soothing experience just watching her stitch and make.

Honeyfolk was founded in 2010 after helping create several garments for Rebecca Burgess, the founder of Fibershed.
