About your teacher:
When Britt was a child, her mother gifted an old box of pastels that opened a door to a world of connected color. Says Britt “Pastel is true raw pigment connection and it colors your hands just as much as it colors the page…no intercessory is needed, you are the application tool. I revel in the process of seed to plant to pigment to pastel journey- a beautiful life cycle.”
Britt has been making handmade pastels from her homegrown natural dye pigments and teaching the Art of Pastel for the past 5 years.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- The History of pastels
- The difference between Pigment extracts vs lake pigments
- Receive Handcrafted binders, fillers, fixatives, and pastel recipes
- Hand-rolling, shaping, and curing
- How to recycle pastels
- Have time for sketching and free play with Britt’s collection of handcrafted pastels.
- Create a set of 6 handcrafted pastels(including indigo, madder, fustic, & wisteria vine) with carrying case, booklet of pastel recipes & techniques, sampler art, and custom fixative pastel spray.
