Video From FEEDBACK FRIDAY: Terroir of Color

This week on FEEDBACK FRIDAY, we talked with Cara Marie Piazza on the terroir of color. How can we create natural dye solutions based on locality and the terroir of color while maintaining the integrity of the plant?

Have you ever thought about local color where YOU live?

About Cara: Besides being the newest member of our Botanical Colors team, Brooklyn-based Cara Marie Piazza creates one of a kind textiles only using natural dye stuffs such as botanicals, plant matter, minerals, non-toxic metals and food wastes. She treats her fabrics through alchemical dye sessions, ancient shibori techniques and bundle dyeing, transforming each textile into its very own story. She works with both designers and artists to realize their natural dyeing needs as well as creates custom pieces for private clients.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY

If you are not familiar with FEEDBACK FRIDAY, every week, we speak with dyers, artists, scientists and scholars about our favorite topic, natural dyeing and color. Curated by Amy DuFault, Botanical Colors’ Sustainability Director and presented by Botanical Colors’ Founder Kathy Hattori.
