Botanical Colors is an immigrant company. I experienced hearing the stories of my mother and father who were stripped of their constitutional rights and incarcerated for three years in US concentration camps during World War II. They were US citizens. They too, were taken away and “detained” because the government didn’t like the way they looked and where they came from.
The events occurring in Minnesota and Maine (and not to forget LA, Chicago, and other US cities) are profoundly disturbing to me. Botanical Colors stands in fierce, grieving solidarity with our communities in Minnesota and Maine who are facing escalating violence and terror at the hands of ICE and Border Patrol. We mourn those who have been killed, separated from their families, or forced to live in constant fear, and we condemn these state-sanctioned atrocities as an assault on life, dignity, and the possibility of belonging. As a company rooted in care, interdependence, and relationship to land and one another, we refuse to look away and we invite our community to move resources toward those doing vital on-the-ground support and resistance.
If you wish to contact your member of Congress (there’s a spending bill for ICE that is on the table right now), please call your Senator and let them know how you feel about additional taxpayer dollars going to ICE.
Thank you for helping others in our community. Sending love to everyone.

Thank you.
For knitters! I just wanted to point to the Halcyon Yarn (Maine) website. They are supporting Minnesotans by knitting. You’re donating through the pattern maker. I think you can purchase the pattern directly on Ravelry and use your own yarn (think madder and cochineal dyes)

Thank you for your support of Minnesota, Maine and all of the other locations where ICE is spreading violence and fear.
I stand with Minnesota and everyone who is standing up for our rights and freedoms.
