These pieces were used in rural Romanian villages as bed covers, but we love them as casual tablecloths, daybed throws, picnic blankets and more. This handwoven-hemp-cotton-yardage fabric is handwoven in rural Romanian villages from locally grown, processed and spun hemp. The fabric is vintage and no longer being produced. Our logwood is in sawdust/wood chip form. Use repeatedly until there is no more color. 100g of logwood chips will dye approximately 600g (24 ounces) of fiber a deep purple shade. We use organic print paste thickener (replaces Gum Tragacanth*) as a thickener to paint or print with natural dyes on fabric. In addition, it is an organically certified water-soluble carbohydrate gum mixture. Similarly, it performs very well in thickening dyes and pigments for printing and painting. Print paste thickener will dissolve readily in cold or hot water.
